This 100gr Comfrey Salve made with a maceration of comfrey leaves from my garden. The leaves of comfrey contain allantoin, a substance that it is believed to help new cells grow, along with other substances that may reduce inflammation and keep the tissues healthy. Comfrey ointments have been used to help bruises heal as well as pulled muscles and ligaments, fractures, sprains, strains, and osteoarthritis. It has been used for the purpose of joining broken tissue since roman times. The word comfrey comes from Latin names “confirma” meaning the uniting of bones and “confervere” or grow together. There is an old Roman saying that goes: “Comfrey the all-welder·. It may also help with insect bites and itchy rushes due to plant stinging. Comfrey has poisonous bio-cumulative properties so it must only be used externally with care and for short periods of time (two weeks max).
